Der nachfolgende Lebenslauf, der inzwischen veraltet ist, sollte immer mal übersetzt werden. Wegen des Rentnerdaseins wurde das aber dann für überflüssig erachtet. July to November, 76: Leader of technical assistance team to Zaïre to help implement the programme package SPSS (Statistical Package for Social Sciences) on an IBM 360- 165, to conduct the test evaluation of census data, and to perform the systems documentation in Kinshasa. This assignment also included the conduct of training of local personnel and programming of special tasks (e.g., data validation and verification).
1977 - 1980: Leader of technical assistance team to the East African Community's (EAC) Customs & Excise Administration Headquarters in Mombasa, Kenya, to help in the computerization of the trade statistics with main duties: Documentation of the existing system, training.
Following the collapse of the EAC in July, 1977, was appointed as Data Processing Director of the Kenya Customs & Excise Department Head-quarters in Nairobi with the following responsibilities:
- Hardware and software planning for a new computerized (automated data processing = ADP) system for the evaluation of trade data (data capture and validation; remote job entry; data processing; management information).
- Project implementation, including elaboration of tender documents, budgeting, installation of hardware and software, training of computer personnel and users, programme development, systems documentation.
-Re-organization of the Computer Section respectively the Statistical Branch of the Customs & Excise Department.
During this period (as side jobs):
- Feasibility study for the establishment of a Customs Chemical Laboratory and subsequently involvement in its planning and implementation.
- Conduct of a study on the needs of re-organising the Manpower Planning Division of the Office of the President.
